Parker handed me this scrap of paper and handmade envelope and dictated this note to her friend (who is coming over in one hour.)

Griffin's International Fashion Show

Griffin's class held an International Fashion Show this week.  Each child was asked to wear an outfit or costume that represented their heritage.  Griffin decided to rep his German heritage with some lederhosen (made with love by Aunt Jessi, she's the best!).  They were also asked to bring in one dish for an international potluck.  The whole thing was really adorable, and it was really cool to see all the diversity.  I think we had every populated contienent repped (except maybe Australia).

The awesome potluck!  Samosas, baklva, conchas, croissants, Iranian saffron rice (omgtodiefor!) and so much more! So so much good food and what does Griffin eat? Grapes, a donut hole, lemon cake and then the broccoli from his lunch *sigh*.  We brought in Apple Streusel.

Parker's porcupine costume (her own design)

Griffin asked Josh what grave robbers were.  After explaining it, Parker informed Josh that she thinks "only people who were really cute kids get to be buried with treasure."  Josh asked her if she thought that she and Griffin would be buried with treasure.  She would, she answered, but Griffin wouldn't.  "Because he doesn't give me enough kisses."

"Mommy, I told the spider in the corner to make a web and catch all the ants and he said he would.  Isn't that nice of him?  And then he helped me make the Netflix work.  He's such a nice spider." -she said, dead serious.  You have to admit, that is a very helpful Daddy Longlegs.

Parker has been having nightmares lately.  I got her a dreamcatcher and explained that it was supposed to catch her bad dreams.  This morning I asked her if she had any bad dreams and she said no.  She grabbed the dreamcatcher and was looking at it as she said, "Should we see my dreams?"  "You can see your dreams in the dreamcatcher?"  I asked.  She dropped it suddenly and turned and wagged her finger at me, "No, we shouldn't.  I don't want them in my head."

Sea World 2011

A video I put together over the summer and then promptly forgot about.  :)  Some little snippets from one of our trips to Sea World.

Parker's First Field Trip

Parker got to go on her very first field trip last week, and I got to go with her.  Her kindergarten class went to Centennial Farm at the OC Fair Grounds.  She's been desperately waiting for this field trip ever since Griffin got to go last year.  She checked off two of her life's goals: 1.) ride in a school bus 2.) hold a baby chick.  She just about passed out when they put that baby chick in her hand.

Universal Studios

Josh's aunt, uncle and cousin came down from Canada for a visit last week and we went with them to Universal Studios on Saturday.  The kids have never been, and Josh and I hadn't been since we were little little kids, so it was pretty new to all of us.  Griffin loved everything about it, but his favorite was the Jurassic Park ride.  He was so excited about the whole trip he actually lost his voice on the way home just from talking about it so much.  He's regaled everyone since then with a precise blow by blow of every single ride.  Parker was not so impressed, everything was too loud or too scary and she was tired all day.  There was a Curious George section with a giant room filled with air cannons and hoses and foam balls that she enjoyed.  When we got home and I went to give her her allergy medicine I found out Josh had given it to her that morning already.  She'd had her last pill just the night before, so she basically got a double dose which went a long way in explaining her fatigue at Universal Studios.  But she claims to have had a great time and can't wait to go back again.

St.Patrick's Day

The kids declared that St.Patrick's Day was their favorite holiday ever this year and were eagerly awaiting the leprechaun's arrival.  Fin decided to use his legos to make his trap this year.  But, alas, those tricky tricksters got away again.  And then they got into our party supplies and covered the kids room in streamers, wrote all over their mirrors and trapped them inside their room with a wall of balloons and streamers. I discovered that its just about near impossible to take a good picture of writing on a mirror, but you can get the general idea. ;)

Griffin: "If you use your money to buy Squinkies do you think you could buy me some too, and then we'd
              both have some?"
Parker: "Sure!"
Griffin: "Thanks Parker!  You're my best sister!"
Parker: "Aww, Mama, Griffin said I was his best sister.  Am I really your best sister Griffin?"
Griffin: "Yeah"
Parker: "Its because I'm so thankful for you Griffin."

Griffin's Amazing Blog

Griffin kept pestering me to add different things to this blog (put this video on there! and this picture of Indiana Jones!).  Since he seemed interested in the process, I asked him if he'd like to start his own blog.  He jumped on the idea.  He picked out a template he liked, a title and voila he became a blogger.  I gave him a short crash course in using blogger and he picked it up really fast. Once I get him logged in he is able to create a new post, add pictures and captions, he even knows how to tag his posts.  Today he figured out how to read comments and has been checking to see if anyone has commented on his posts every ten minutes.  Its incredible to see him do a Google Image search, drag the picture to our desktop and then create a post and upload the picture to blogger.  I've been doing the videos for him, but thats next on our list for him to learn.  He does source all the videos himself, usually from YouTube (I make him use YouTube for children so I don't have to worry too much about what kind of content pops up).  I can already see myself turning into that mom that goes, "Griffin, my computers doing something funny, can you come fix it plllllleeassse?"

You can check out his blog here.

"Fluffy" Art

"Two Dragons In Love"

"Snowman in the Snow"

Parker's been making assemblage art since the day she got her hands on a bottle of glue.  Today I found her playing around with some fiber fill or "fluffy" as she calls it.  Her ability to make something out of "nothing" continues to astound me.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Aunt Jessi made Parker's dress and I added the heart.  Daddy made Fin's Dr.Who Valentine's shirt

The heart I made for Parker

Griffin's Dr.Who Valentine's Day cards.  I'm curious to know if any of his friends will have any idea what these are about!
